No general jus soli. Article 9 covers only a child born or found in Slovenia whose parents are unknown, of unknown citizenship or stateless, revocable if a foreign citizenship emerges before age 18.

A spouse of a Slovenian may naturalize after three years of marriage and one year of continuous residence, exempt from the ten-year bar.

Automatic at birth when both parents are Slovenian citizens; with one citizen parent, automatic only when the child is born in Slovenia — born abroad, the citizen parent must register the child or the child may opt by age 36 (articles 4 and 5).

Ten years of actual residence with the last five continuous (article 10), a regulated foreigner status, and release from the previous citizenship or proof it will follow on admission, with statutory exceptions. The grant is discretionary.
