Legge 27/2026 rewrote the requirements: twenty continuous years of registered and effective residence, reduced to ten for spouses or civil partners of citizens and for semiplena adoptees, or eighteen years for persons resident since birth. Applicants must show Italian at CEFR B1 and pass a test on Sammarinese history and institutions (art. 2-quater), and no longer renounce other citizenships. Grant follows the parliamentary naturalization procedure of art. 2-ter as amended.
