Armenian citizenship through an Armenian parent

Automatic only when both parents are Armenian citizens at birth, wherever born, or where the second parent is unknown or stateless. With one citizen and one foreign parent, the child acquires citizenship only with the parents' written agreement, or if born in Armenia, or where the child would otherwise be stateless (article 11).

Naturalization after about three years residence

Three years of permanent residence, the ability to communicate in Armenian, and familiarity with the Constitution (article 13). Armenia recognises dual citizenship (article 13.1, since 2007): a dual citizen is treated solely as Armenian by Armenia, and no renunciation is demanded.
